Die! Die! Die!

After much ado we headed out to see Dunedin International jet setters Die! Die! Die! Number 1 bro Dazza joined the party. This dude saved my life this year, On Ya Daz!
We had to take a minute to gather our thoughts before going in. Here I am pondering spaghetti junction.
Die! Die! Die! were pretty good, but not especially so. They soughta sound like they want to be a noise band, but one that plays songs. This is an oxymoron moron if ever there was one one. Still what the fuck do i know- kids were digging it.

RB, Tanya, Dave, Daz and SP Carter enjoying the show.

The inevitable feedback frenzy, singer in crowd, gear throwing ended the show. Hey, good on them. The next night I saw the Brunettes who were absolutely fucken great. I forgot my camera tho, so no photos.
Goodnight Dave.

Simons Birthday Bbq//EVIL

Red House Rocker Simon C had a bbq to celebrate his birthday. Homeboy was subdued to start with but soon had his party on.
Nicola was there with baby Spike! I hadn't met the wee dude yet and he was cool as. Congrats Nicola, Todd and Spike.
This is the thing I like about Christmas. Random awesome people who you haven't seen in ages are suddenly in town, like Dan Mancini. He's been conquering LA big time. Too many reasons why this guy rules.
Sean got the gas happening.
Simon aka Framzie and Mario aka Muzz/ Muzza/ the Muzz/ Particle Man. Enjoying an appertiser.
EVIL D. Mitchell...Guitar, beer, big bag of leads and pedals... he's off to souncheck!Dermot.
Daniel Mancini and his nipper Cash Wolfe (i think).
Everyone's having kids!
Framzie had majorly pirked up and was ready to go.
Happy Birthday Simon.

The Coolies opened.
They were good.
Great to see i was in some pretty heavy duty company door list styles.
Retarded South Island Mechanic Spanners Watson was there!People Of the Year '07: Jude and Kristina.
Mr cheeseontoast.co.nzEVIL took the stage and where fucken gnarly.
Dave spent the entire gig on his knees, back to the audience, facing his amp. The sound he was making was the most horrendous, crazed noise ever, and at the same time the most beautiful and soothing . Hands down best NZ guitarist of all time.
They were selling copies of their 10" ep. I fanned out and got the band to sign it....
...then went home and had nightmares. Thanks guys.
Daves other combo The Ghost Club are playing here soon.
If you know, you KNOW.
How's this poster? Vintage Fucking Mitchell!

Kerry and Rebecca's birthday

Kristina aka 'Tina Turntables' deejayed at her friends combined birthday party. I didn't know them but K dragged my sorry ass along anyway- she's good like that.

This is Kerry. She was holding it down on the decks when we got there.
Kerry explained the setup to Tina then it was party on.

People danced. I was sick of using the flash on my crappy camera, hence the tripped out arty shots. This is how everything looks to me, maaan.

Kristina rocked the party. I think I would be a good deejay- like getting fucked up, enjoy hogging the stereo, reasonably good taste in music... but K reckons it's a lot harder than it looks, and it's probable I'd be shit.

They had set up a flouro installation in the back yard- nice touch.

Someone had one of those full face sun visor things that extremely light sensitive people wear. I got a hold of it and was stoked- these things rule and I'm so getting one. Imagine- your hungover, hating the world, and heavy on the comedown... Rock this sucker and there's no eye contact and no one knows who the fuck you even are- perfect.

K was wearing perhaps the coolest bracelet ever. Racy little toy car styles. Kerry took this- she's a photographer.
Kerry and Kristina compare bracelets. I think I was supposed to take a close up.... but that aint how I roll.

Jacobs 21st and The Checks

My nephew Jacob turned 21. I aint seen him for ages as he's been holding it down on drums with the Checks all over yonder world. I love this lil' fellah.

Father Phil made a suitably embarrasing speech. Spot the Jake photo montage on the wall.

Moe and Jacob listen. Moe laughs, Jake looks stunned.

Proud parents Linda and Phil. Good job guys- the kid turned out good.

Sister Katie.

Phil and 'my friend, Sasha'.

Potential Ma- daughter in law hug.
Thanks for the party guys and happy 21st Jacob.

Few days later the Checks kicked K.A. ass.

Ole' crazy eyes Russel was there. Dudes not a braniac fulltime.

the Checks were fucken on fire. if you don't think this is easily the best band in NZ you've got yo head up yo ass.

Bass bro Karel Chabera post gig horizpeace sign action.

Jacob should get a Marlboro sponsorship. Home boy's smoking in every shot. Tobacco companies take note- this is your new spokesman.

Guitarist Sven and his Dad/Co Manager Alan with some random drunken idiot. No disrespect to the rest of the band but young Sven dog is the true genius in the Checks. Respect.

Back home and Crazy eyes kept it real in the spare room.
